Santa Fe Dubai held its second HR Breakfast Series on Sunday 29th May at the H Hotel in Dubai. The goal of the HR Breakfast Series is to provide an intimate venue where a professional community of thought leaders who are pioneering strategy and innovation within their organization can meet, exchange idea and network with industry peers.
Presentation topics are focused around trending issues within the mobility management space. The topic of this HR Breakfast was Bridging the Gap between HR and Procurement. A talented and tenured panel from HR and/or Procurement roles shared insightful experiences on this topic. The panel participants included:
Andy Williams – Head of Human Resources, Qatar First Bank
Fizza Sabir – Human Resources Manager, Global Shared Services, DNV GL
Elie Matta – Procurement Vice President, Mars
Kamalasen Chetty – Senior Director, Global Sourcing, Visa
Suman Jacob – Procurement Lead, Accenture Middle East
Kemal Kayasoglu – Head of Purchasing for Packing Materials, Henkel India, Middle East & Africa
The engaging discussion focused on the top 3 criteria in purchasing mobility services, collaboration between the two departments and the value proposition for quantifying expatriate focused services. It was promising to learn that “price” was rarely mentioned as the primary driver but other key elements such as global presence/capability, flexibility, specialists in service, local knowledge, value for money, account management and the “happiness factor” were universal purchasing criteria. Passionate discussions around scale versus quality, relocation spend as a percentage of overall spend, trigger points, stakeholder requirements & responsibilities in tender exercises and the success of a holistic approach in the RFP process held the attention of the audience and elicited participation.
This discussion highlighted the strategic goals of both HR and Procurement are often in alignment and in a collaborative environment the client, service provider and transferee win.
